"Lodge #990 Gainesville is very active in the community and the public are welcome to special events. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner on most days and has a Very-Friendly dedicated group of volunteers/members.Their historical spring-fed swimming pool (depicted in video) was built around 1934 and due to disagreement between the then current owner and the city is no longer utilized as a swimming facility because the spring water was not able to be chlorinated. In 1970 the pool fell into disrepair. To make matters worse pollution from fertilizers, pesticides, and roadway runoff have drastically increased the nitrate levels in the spring waters. In 1960, due to the lack of pool use the then lodge members came up with a fantastic community involvement fundraiser by stocking the pool with fish for kid fishing tournaments. Currently there are several remaining bass and bream including a 7-pound female that prefers to hang out in the deep end. The deck above the pool is a Very relaxing place to enjoy with friends."
